Tonometry
Measurement of "eye strain"
Rebound tonometry consists of indirectly measuring intraocular pressure using the emission of a microscopic metallic probe that is painlessly directed to the cornea.
By measuring the speed at which the probe stops upon meeting the corneal surface, the intraocular pressure level is obtained.
It is important that the intraocular pressure is kept within normal parameters. Increasing this can cause serious damage in the optic nerve which can lead to loss of vision. This pathology is known by the name of glaucoma.
